The goal of DHM is to make it easier for patients and their families to get access to the critical information they are searching for. DHM is a resource that will help address the issues that arise when a family member or friend becomes ill.
The founders of DHM, Michael Yonchenko and Lea Bergen, are award-winning producers. They have received nearly 100 awards over the past 26 years including the highly prestigious C. Everett Koop, M.D. Award from the American Medical Association for excellence in medical education. DHM is also a recipient of a Jefferson Award for Public Service from the American Institute for Public Service.
Funding for DHM comes from foundation and government grants, unrestricted educational grants from corporations, as well as donations from private individuals.
The corporate funds that support DHM do so with unrestricted educational grants as defined by the Food and Drug Administration’s Division of Drug Marketing, Advertising and Communications (DDMAC) regulations. This ensures that the programs and their content provide accurate and useful information without promotional considerations.
DHM’s Medical Advisory Committee provides them with either member-experts or outside experts to ensure the highest level of content accuracy, timeliness, and usefulness to the people served by DHM.
